For what it's worth the 3" has a deeper richer tone to it than the 2-1/2.

On the stock system, deleting the resonator and keeping the muffler just makes it a little more raspy and a tad louder, but still pretty inaudible, deleting the Muffler and keeping the res, make it as loud as an aftermarket system with out drone, just cheaper. The factory resonator is a straight through muffler.

Ah makes sense, thanks guys
I got the metal mulisha Gibson exhaust recently and deleted resonator and there is definitely drone in the cab but something I could live with, other people not use to it hate it tho

Here is the cold start vid guys. I went to my dead road several times over the weekend and it wasn't so dead, so I couldn't get any fly bys or take offs, without interfering with some RC hobbyist Fly bys and take offs.

I know this is an old thread, but I am interested in deleting my muffler while keeping my resonator. The goal is to keep my costs low, and still get a slightly more throaty rumble from the 5.0.
My biggest concern is I still have 20k left on my drivetrain warranty, and I would wait if doing this will void what is left.
My second concern is if it will still pass emission testing.
If anyone could weigh in on this subject, I would appreciate it.

If you don't mess with the cats, your emissions should be fine, the whole system after the cats is straight through, with baffle tubes(or helmholtz pipes - technically). You warranty shouldn't be affected either.
