Muffler Delete - Kept Resonator
I decided to give this a try over the weekend.
If you do try this, do not base your opinion on the sound until you get it piped after the resonator, do not leave the resonator dumped at the end of its pipe, it is loud and drones bad in the cab.
I picked up $20 worth of 2-1/2" Exhaust Piping at Advanced auto 18" Straight and a turn down, along with a section of flat hanging strip. It dumps right under the back seat with this length bolted up to the res.
The sound is surprisingly tame and very reminiscent of my old Magnaflow on my 5.4, but still kinda nags at highway and interstate speeds, it can be talked over and the radio set at 10-12 is loud enough to drown it out. But there is a slight Thrum Thrum Thrum Drone, it is livable but I think it can be gotten ride of. If this makes sense, I also think it sounds a little tight and needs to be opened up a bit, it is hard to describe, I will try to get a video or two of it a when I get a chance.
I want to hit up a local exhaust shop this week and see about a 3" Pipe that can be bolted up to the res and hang on the hanger before the rear axle and dump right there, for those times I may never need to go back to stock, the goal is to keep it reversible. If that doesn't work, I may get another 3" res to weld in line of the new pipe and tone it down a bit. Really hoping not to have to put more than $150 in to this little project.
Pics and Videos to follow when I get a chance.

1st crank up with the 3" pipe, will et better vids for you guys as soon as I can, don't mind the idiot talking in the back ground, I was comparing it to the sound of the 2-1/2" I had there before.
The 3" opened up the sound a bit, and made it deeper, also appears the drone level has fallen down quite a bit, not that it was intolerable before, it is almost none existent again.

I have a 3" pipe welded into my stock tailpipe where my muffler was and I also left the resonator, it sounds louder than yours does by the video clip. Must be that your pipe is dumped and the sounds trapped under the truck. I have no complaints about drone on mine, but all my sound is going out the tailpipe. I like the look of trucks that are dumped tho!

The whole point of doing it this way was to make it reversible, when incase A) the wife didn't like it(I still have no clue) B) it is to loud when towing. If it is to loud for towing or the wife, I may order a 3" SI/SO Magnaflow and have the same shop weld it to the 3" Pipe. I would under $150 invested, even if I had to do that.
