Im about ready to ditch my old Scorpiens. They are a horrible tire.

So I have always ran a mud tire on all my trucks, love the look and the versiatility, to basically do what I want. But none of my previous trucks had 20" rims, and tires prices are looking a bit redicouls.

I have settled on a 275/65-20 tire. Basically 34" tall and 10.5 wide. This should give me good ground clearance, with the ability to bite down through slop and snow to minimize floatation. It also keeps tire weight down vs a 12.5 wide.

I have been eyeballing the Duratracs for some time, seems everyone loves them. But wanted to ask if there are any other contenders for a MT/AT tire that provide good off road ability, yet are functional. If i could afford it, i would buy BFG MT KM2 tires, IMHO best I have ever owned.

I see Micky Thompson has a AT3 that looks pretty good, the BFG AT always look amazing, but are less than stellar in the mud.

So i guess some advice would help. I know people say do research, well i have looked around and decided the best way to do research is to ask for fellow enthusiasts opinions.

Cooper ST Maxx. Was going to get an MT until I came across this one. Saved a lot compared to the popular Duratracs also. Works great on wet pavement. No winter testing yet. Quiet compared to MTs. Especially compared to the popular Toyo Open Country.

There's really no shortage of great tires out there, in MT or AT. I would probably be happy with any of those you mentioned or that are popular on the forums here. The Coopers fit the bill around for me.

IF they made them in the size you want, I'd suggest Interco Trxus MT. Best tire I ever ran but will never run on this truck due to the sizes (33x12.5 would work if I had different rims but I wont run them on my 7.5" wide rims)...and I'm not sure how they would wear, got 35k per set on my last truck but that only weighed 4500lb.

275/65R20 Nitto Trail Grappler. They are quiet for a mud tire and ride great.

I say Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx as well. MT treat depth with a aggressive AT tread pattern. Its the same as the ATZ P3. My buddy has a set and the ribs on the bottom of the tread along with the vertical tread gaps do a good job of breaking up the mud and clearing it out. I'm trying to get a set of 295/70r18s, but they are sold out everywhere.

Keep an eye on treadepot. That's where I got mine, but they seemed to only have 5 in stock when I did as there was only 1 left when mine came. But I only paid $238 each!

Id go with the cooper AT 3. Great tire great price (actually got best price quote from my ford dealership here in Canada) Consumer reports also named it best truck tire. This tire size is similar to what U wanted. They have 3 other 20" sizes.

I've ran older BFG M/T's, Cooper Maxx ST's, General Grabber AT2's, BFG A/T's, Remington Mud Brutes (not made anymore, but probably my favorite mud tire), Maxxis Big Horn M/T's, and DuraTracs. I've never run the Nitto Trail Grapplers or Toyo M/T's. To me, the best all around tire are the DuraTracs. I'm on my 2nd set of these, and will probably be the next set I buy as well. They are a great compromise between M/T and A/T. 40-45K will be the life of them though. If you want the longest lasting, BFG A/T's hands down. I got 80K out of a set of those. I just like a little better all around traction than they provide. They absolutely suck in the mud. It's like being on skates. General's were kind of like the BFG A/T's, and went over 60K for me. Maxxis were ok, but only lasted 30K. Cooper's were probably my 2nd favorite as they are also a good compromise between M/T and A/T, but I had one tire that was hard to keep balanced. Plus, I think the DuraTracs are a little better than the Cooper's on snow/ice. This is just my experience with these different brands of tires.

I'm waiting for the new Toyo Open Country R/T to debut. I'm currently running the Pro Comp Xtreme ATs and they have been awesome so far. Good in the rain. They have about 13,000 on them now and they have plenty of tread left. I like the look of the Pro Comps, them being lightweight, the tread life.
