Another good tuner to check out would be VMP Tuning. Justin has worked a lot of magic for me. After my 4.6L 3V made over 530 rwhp with a TVS on a completely stock motor for years of me daily driving and racing it I knew I didn't need to look for another tuner. I often wonder if that motor ever did blow up.

In an earlier post, I believe you said you already had tunes from 5 star tuning. Why are you looking for a different tuner? Maybe I missed something.

I had a good experience with MPT. Ordered tunes (3) and received them in 48 hours. I needed a revision and it took them 24 hours to turn one around.

Having said that, I am going to give 5* a shot this spring. Just to try more than anything else.

On previous trucks, I have had tunes from SCT (canned), VMP, Bernhausen, PHP and MPT. Other than the canned tunes from SCT being lackluster, I've had good interactions with all of them. Justin at VMP did an awesome job on my procharged 5.4.

Just to try something different. The ones I have from 5 star are the Performance/Tow, not just strictly performance. I never really love the shifting from them either. First revision was harsh in the lower gears, then second revision softened it up some, but it wouldn't hold the gears long enough. Acted more like stock, with it going to 6th quickly. It seemed like the revision didn't just change the issue, but changed things that didn't need changing. I mean, I didn't hate their tunes, just thought I'd try something else. I see that they now offer strictly Performance tunes.

Right now I'm just waiting on my tune to be sent from MPT.

I recently purchased a used 2015 F150, 3.5 ECO. I ran the 5* 93 Performance for a couple of months. Smooth shifting, felt like the truck should have come from the factory this way. But for all out performance it seemed like it was missing a little. So for Christmas I purchased MPT 93PRX tune. I received it today and loaded it up. MAN O MAN, tons of power! I give it two thumbs up!

I've ran a few hundred miles through the MPT Performance Street tune. As for the transmission tuning, it's not too bad. It holds shifts like it should between gears based on speed. At times, it has firm shifts, and other times it feels like stock. One thing do hate about the tuning is when cruising in 6th gear, it downshifts to 5th a lot. If I just barely press the pedal or hit a small grade, it downshifts for a second, then goes back to 6th. It wouldn't even do that stock. RPMs are not real low when it does it either, since it will occur anywhere between 60-80mph. I also have 3.73s.

As for power, I'm not impressed. I ran my truck stock for a few weeks before loading the MPT tune, and the only difference can feel is the transmission. The throttle response is no different than stock, or maybe worse. The 5 star tunes I had before (also 87 octane) were a lot more responsive in the throttle area, but the transmission tuning was lacking a bit. They didn't downshift from 6-5 as easily as MPT though.

I plan to send MPT an email and see if they can correct these areas. I feel like it can be a good tune, just needs a little tweaking.

Please post back with what MPT says. I've got the 93 Race tune installed, and mine was doing similar until I did a KAM reset. Was good for around thousand miles, and now doing it again. I'd like to talk with them, but ofcourse no one works on Saturday, and I don't have time to call them through the week.
This happens when on cruise, I can drive with the cruise off, and all is well.

Something must be wrong then with your tune or you are just comparing it to the 5* tune and not realizing it. To say that you don't notice any difference between stock and MPT's tune in regard to throttle response is ridiculous (especially with our 6.2's) In stock form, the truck can't get out of its own way. Once you put the tune on there, it's night and day difference. Something has to be up with the tune...I hope you get it straightened out. It's nice to see you can compare 5* and MPT since you have had both. I was wondering the differences for our trucks. Thanks for sharing. Good luck!
