so just out of curiosity this is my first truck and i was just wondering what the consequinces are of towing more than the tow load capacity? also i wanna put a bds level kit on my truck and wanna kno what size tires and offset of rims i can put on the truck i want to get xd series 778 20IN wheels

also let me throw this question out while im at it...most level kits i see are 2in and the bds is 2.5in so how are they both considered level when there differnt sizes?

do what you want with towing however you put risk in failure with the truck. You also put risk with everbody around you when you lose control due to over capacity. The biggest consequince is death, to you or others.

I personally would follow the load capacity of the truck.

Also, do a search with the lift and tire size. There is alot of info in here.

that was not very helpful at all as far as my first question goes i doubt i will ever tow that much since i dont even have a trailer yet or anything to tow hints me saying just outta curiosity and i meant truck type consequences not really physically to me im not talking drastically over maybe just 1 or 2k lbs over what is likely to fail?

Your truck could overheat, you could blow up your ring and pinion gears, you could bend or snap axles, you could premeturly wear out your bearing, you could damage your springs, you will lose steering feel with too much weight on your bumper, you could blow out your tires.

As to worst case, if you are overloaded and you wreck and kill someone you will most likely be liable.

Its all about how you position the load on the trailer. You want your truck to be slightly squatted in the rear, with most of you loads weight over your trailer axles. You can mis-position a 6,000 lbs load and cause the above to happen.

2or3K is probably not going to cause a catostropic failier BUT you risk overheating,transmision wear or failyer.bearing failyer.tire.kaboom and that is the good stuff. if you should have an accident some personal ijury lawer is going to have a field day when it goes to court. Oh and your insurance co. wont even talk to you so if you want to haul or tow more get a bigger truck then the rest of us on the road have one less thing to worry about.
