Morimoto XB's vs Rigid DOT dually
Considering an upgrade to the fogs on my truck and comparing the Morimoto XB LED's to the Rigid DOT fogs. Biggest thing I'm concerned about is how much usable light is making it on the road and in the ditches. Looks are secondary but still a factor.
Function:
??>??
Looks:
XB's>Rigids
Tinted light plus they are factory looking as opposed to a square peg in a round hole.
Price:
XB's>Rigids
Talking to vendors on here there is about a $60 difference between the two.
Extras:
Rigid>XB's
Capibility of using an amber cover on the Rigids when winter hits instead of running around with Yellow Lamin-x on the XB's.
I know from reading the multiple page thread on the XB's, guys are impressed with the looks but some seem to be disappointed with the light output over stock. Looking for real world opinions I guess.

I have the Rigid DOTs on my truck and it makes a very noticeable difference when they are on compared to just my HIDs being on. If you want maximum legal light output then I think these would win hands down over the Morimotos.

well speaking from experiance. I love my XB's. they have way more usable light than stock lights. I can't speak for using yellow or amber covers because i hat that look. I use green covers on a set of rigids up in my grill, may just be my eyes, but I find it cuts fog/rain/snow better than any yellow/amber light.
Rigids will give you a ton more light on the road and at a further distance but the XB will cover the ditch closer to your truck, where it counts.
for the fog/driving light hole in the bumper, put a set of XB's and be done and happy, then for aux lighting, hid a set of rigids or amazon knock off rigids in your grill or down on each side of your license plate/intercooler opening

I have the XB fogs. Had them in my Ranger and now in my f150. They look amazing with the stock black hid projector headlights. The light output is good definitely better than stock but I'm sure the rigid pods put out way more light. The xb have a great cutoff so you won't be blinding oncoming traffic which is nice. This is the best picture I had of them on the truck

Thanks for the help so far guys.....doesn't make my decision any easier though.
I prefer the XB's look because it blends in with the Tuxedo paint.
Since I went with a 2012 grille I'll eventually go with a set of rigid spots like I did years ago on my 2010 behind the grille openings. Since I have the winch mount, I may add a set of lights like I had on my 2010 in the bumper opening as well. Need to buy that winch first before going crazy with lights.

I fought this internal battle myself a couple months ago. Wanted the output of the Rigid DOTs but just couldn't get past the square peg in a round hole thing. So I went with the xB instead and love the look. The output is good on them too and seem to match up pretty well with my 5500K retrofit. Either way, you can't go wrong here, but I'd say get the xB fogs then add the D2s like your old truck's configuration. Boom. Best of both worlds!

I got the xB during black friday sale and have not installed them LOL. I originally wanted Rigids, especially in amber or an amber cover, but the BF sale was too good to pass up. Even though I havent used them.. I know I'll be happy. Anything is better than stock.
