Has anyone tried to "shave" the model designation off of their 2009+ fender emblems? Perhaps by cutting off the model designation tab parallel to the 0 in F150 and then the same angle on the very end of the designation tab and then "glue" those two parts back together. In essence "crop out" the model designation.

See my attachment below... want to avoid paying ~$100 for the plain "limited" style F150 fender emblems.

 

How about ordering the tailgate emblem? How much are they? I would bet it's a lot cheaper than one from a Limited.

 

The only tailgate emblem that will work on the fenders is from an 09 with the flareside bed. The other tailgate emblems won't sit flat because it's made to sit in the groove on the tailgate.

 

Is that the old style "plate" or new style "outline" on the '09 flareside?

Do we have a part number for that? Is it: 9L3Z9942528E

I can get the limited fender emblems for just under $100 shipped... Tail gate emblem for 2013 is only $25–30 each so that's a big difference...

 

Looks like sellers have caught on, 9L3Z9942528E are like $40-50 bummer

 

Just order the Limited F-150 fender emblems, it looks just like the tailgate emblem

 

Thanks, but that's precisely what I was trying to avoid... Oh well thanks for the suggestions everyone.

 

Someone just posted a video recently about how he painted the inserts, and shaved off the model while he was at it.. Nothing to it, just grand it off and fill it in, then paint. U will lose one of the mounting pins but the tape holds it anyways

 

I searched but didn't have any luck, you have a keyword I can use or a link?

 

Did this exact thing with mine. Mine are one piece fender emblems, cut off the model "tab" and then bondo or fibreglassed(don't remember) to match factory shape. And there is no mounting pins under the "tab" just fyi tko
