Question Model Selection

Got the boss to agree to an upgrade to 4WD (from 2010 XLT scab RWD) so that I don't die an early death in the snow and ice this winter in CT.

Votes for
  • FX4
  • Platimum
  • Raptor
Would like to actually be able to get out of my driveway without a heart attack from shovelling for 2 hours and constantly sliding down the 3/12 300 yard asphalt, ice ridden access road. 95% city / highway driving

Leaning toward the FX4 but that means I need to wait until what looks like Jan for the combo I want for 2012 and I can get a 2011 Platinum this Satruday. Raptor in the list as if I wait until Jan then I may as well order the real deal.

And nothing with that awful light wood trim interior is being considered.

For clarification when I said boss, I meant the wife. So it's my money buying the truck. FX4, Raptor, Platinum all come out 2-3,000 over / under 50K depending upon options selected, so there is not much in it monthly over 60 months.

I drive about 10k a year (so fuel eco is not that great a concern); daily drive, use car for longer trips, Canada, Maine etc..

Platinum considered for resale value (eventually)
FX4 as it gets me all I need with a decent interior
Raptor as the price is almost comparable and just looks
2011 Lariat interiors are horrendous - so not on the list

If you can get a deal on a Platinum this weekend, and if it fits your criteria then go for it. The FX4 would be the next on my list. Good luck getting a new truck.

I say get the Platinum. I ordered an FX4 myself, but the Platinum is nice too. Plus you should be able to save BIG bucks locally this time of year.

1. Raptor
2. Fx4
3. Platinum

Personally I'm not a fan of the platinums too much chrome and that tailgate it just ugly to me. Now of course you may like it, and that's totally your opinion. The raptor is definately the most capable, and aggressive f150 you can get. So if you want to not have to worry about being stuck, I bet the raptor would be perfect!

1) I recently bought an FX4 and love it. 2012 gets AC seats.
2) Raptor was very cool but can't get the 6.5ft bed and I wanted the Ecoboost engine.
3) Platinum interior colors were not for me.
