hi guys n gals...

which GPS do you have, going to get, and why do you like it?

if you have the nav in your truck and a gps, which do you like better and why(gps or nav)?

did you buy additional maps? if so, which ones?

please don't forget to say which gps model you've got.

I've got an older Zumo 550 and use it in my truck, on my motorcycle and in rental cars when needed. I even downloaded an Ireland map and used it there on vacation. Most versatile GPS that I know of, especially when coupled with the XM puck.

Also, Garmin has a 100 dollar lifetime update for the life of the unit (3-4 updates a year).

I had a Nuvi 1350 in my 2009. Great GPS. Very simple to use, nice display.

My 2012 has the Nav package so I sold the Garmin.

I have the Ford factory Navteq navigation unit in my 2010 F-150, and really like it better than my Garmins. (I have used stand alone Garmin's for a long time too, and while I like them, I much prefer my trucks built in unit.) The Ford nav. unit does a very good job of calculating routes and giving directions, and with the big screen and integration with my other truck controls it is really slick and convenient. Here are some examples; Of course the factory nav. will mute the music systems audio when giving verbal directions, which is great by itself, but when you are on a hands free "Synch" phone call it mutes the navigation voice directions, giving priority to the phone audio. I really like that, but of course then you have to be sure you watch the screen for directions when on a phone call. You can also adjust the volume of the navigation voice independently of the music/radio audio.

With the factory navigation screen/sat. radio I also really like the option of subscribing to the Sirius satellite weather radar/information. We live in Oklahoma and it's nice to be able to see how severe storms are tracking relative to our route. It could be a lifesaver in our area.

The factory map ugrades are not cheap ($200), but I like the integrated system so much that I am willing to pay for them.

Last but not least, no more extra cords and crap on my dash from a portable unit!

I have a Zumo 220 with lifetime maps. I got it to use on the bike and truck. Because it is built for motorcycles it is designed to work with your left hand which I like because I mount it on the left side of my dash between the instrument cluster and the A pillar.
I had warranty issues with it and Garmin customer service was great.

My truck came with the Rosen unit installed. It integrates with all the sync stuff and works with all the factory controls. I haven't had a chance to actually test out the navigation function but everything else works great on it.

great input guys....

i bought a garmin 3490LTM, still learning how to use it, but it has voice recognition so that should help.

i got sync in my 2010, but i need the garmin for work. when i am in my truck, i use my phone and data plan to bail me out of hard spots.

but at work, i am working for a tow truck company doing repos from time to time and if i go to Calgary, i got tired of getting lost and dispatch doesn't know how to give good directions.

I have used the 1350 Nuvi and its pretty good. But I've had the Nav system in the last two trucks and its head and shoulders over the Garmin. Unless you live in a big city where streets are constantly being added, the updates are a waste of money.IMO. I got one for my '09 truck and could barely tell the difference.

i got to use the nuvi 3490LMT last night. found the voice command to be pretty helpful but when i need detailed stuff, its best to pull over and use it in hand.

also, while waiting for a callout, i found the "audible" app great cause i can sit in the truck and listen to a book and pass the time better.
