That's how I keep my rear seat also and I've never had a problem.

Hat or sunglasses over the "daylight" sensor in the middle of the dash? I know this affects the headlights, maybe it also works on the dimming mirrors? Otherwise I have no clue...

try unplugging the harness from the mirror and plugging it back in I had this on my 08. I had to drive in circles about four times to reset the compass lol I looked like a freakin idiot in front of ford

There is a small oblong "sensor" in the mirror surface, you have to look real close. My assumption is this works like a photocell sensor light switch. When it senses light, it dims the mirror. What I don't know is if the photocell goes bad, or is it downstream from the photocell.

I drove twenty miles with the mirror unplugged. Compass worked. Nav worked. So WTF does this plug really do?

Stupid question here. But do you see it move up and down if it works? I have tinted rear windows but I do not notice if it is working or not if there are car lights behind me. Or is moving that slowly you can not notice it.

I am just wondering.

Open the rear slider at night and you can tell if it works. Buddy tells me to shine a flashlight or cell phone light into it and you should notice it dim. I just have to keep the rear slider closed at night, the tint helps.

I wiped off the sensor on the front side of the mirror as a last ditch effort and now the mirror dims again.
