Are Michelin LTX M/S2 worth the money?

Well its about that time. My truck is an 012 and I just hit 39,000miles. Obviously the Pirellis are complete junk. They didn’t wear evenly and the wet traction is horrendous. Ive gotten sideways on wet roads one to many times with them. Got to be the worst tires ive ever had. I cant believe ford actually equips them on their bread and butter vehicle.

Anyway, ive been reading the reviews and everyone seems to think the Michelins are the best thing since sliced bread. My question is are they really worth the extra $$$ compared to other brands? :eek2: Just need some honest opinions here.

Had Michelin ltx ms2s on the expedition previous to this truck and they were great. Very quiet excellent traction in all conditions and the wear like iron. I would have put them on this truck but was looking for something more aggressive.

Yes. I've run them on my past three vehicles.

I am fortunate enough to get a new F150 every one to two years due to the way our company rotates trucks down into the field for daily abuse or should I say use by our field services group. I normally put on roughly 28,000 miles per year. I do approximately 75% city driving. I am located in Chicago so the abuse and winter use on a tire is quite severe. I am lucky to get 25,000 miles on the Pirelli tires. I have used both the Bridgestone and Michelin tires when I have changed over the past several years on three different F150's with 20" tires. The Michelin LTX M/s2 are the quietest, best ride , and best traction (steering response and adverse conditions of any tire we have used. I would say the additional cost is quite worth it.

Went through 3 sets on my F250, they ride great, wear like iron. I got dry crack credit towards new ones before I wore the tread out.

I'll be putting them on FX4 when the stock Pirelli's go South.

Everything I've heard it's that they are a great tire. Good wear and as quiet as you can get.

Then again I have noisy Duratracs on both my trucks.

I like them here in Minnesota. Have them on two trucks. Performance does fall of below 0°F but so does everything.

On the other hand you're supposed to buy these tires in September/October when Michelin offers discounts.

I got all four tires last fall for $750 mounted and balanced under a buy 3 get 1 free discount offered through Ford dealers.

750 is a smoking deal for those tires. I paid 820 for a set of MS2 back in october or so from discount, and felt I couldn't do better. Great tire, but 99% of my time is on road.

never mind. not the same tire
