Default metal clanking noise around front drivers side wheel

I first noticed today, a pretty loud metal clanking sound when going over bumps, washboard road strips, rough pavement, etc... coming from my left drivers side wheel area. I can't tell if it's actually the wheel itself, or something near that area. Maybe a heatshield near the headers?

I tried to isolate the issue by going over a speed bump with my drivers side tire, both tires, then the passenger side only. It only made the sound when going over with both tires, or drivers side only.

Any idea what it could be?

anyone? I was thinking sway bar links or bushings, but it sounds like thats more of a thud rather than a loud metallic clanking sound.

Pull the wheel and check to make sure the little metal cap that sits in the hub didn't fall out or come loose. Mine did and it sounds like what you're describing.

Perhaps you have worn tie rods. I had this on mine and replaced the front left tie rod and solved the problem. To get out of my cul de sac and get to the main roads I go over 5-6 medium small speed bumps.Going in and out from home say 5 times a day, eventually wore them out. Doing the math, I hit those bumps approximately 8-9000 times per year. Nasty little bumps. I hate them. Some speed bumps are ok but the the small, steep ones are actually hard on the suspension. Been in my house 17 years and have noticed this on my last 5 trucks.

Had this on my last car, turned out to be uca. Zero relation to a truck, but such noises can be any part in there.

Took off my wheel today to change my brakes, and nothing seemed loose. checked all the parts on the wheel as well as the sway bar, and everything was rock solid. I'm at a loss right now on what it could be
