I really don't know what my average speed was. My guess is probably low to mid 60's.
Highest speed limit here is 65 with many areas less. I am from NY and the state speed limit there is 55.

Speaking of idling, I remember going into the Bose store where my girls said no way! They stayed outside with the truck running. Not sure how long I was in there...

And now that I have answered everything to the best of my knowledge, what is with the third degree from you Al Kohalic? It's getting old.

It only has 7700 miles on it. It is located at a dealer about 2 hours from us so we won't be able to see it and test drive it until the weekend. Just maybe...just maybe.

I know the F250 will tow our camper no worries but this is a daily driving truck around Atlanta and just don't know if I want a F250 for driving kids around to all their stuff. And we are not upgrading the camper any time soon. So if we can get the price right this F150 might just work.

And thanks for all the replies, I feel much more confident when going looking, knowing what to look for when looking for that elusive max tow package. As we all know the salesperson will tell you most anything and if you are not informed you can get the wrong truck for your specific needs. We have to have the max tow package to tow our 7800lb camper.

Thanks again
Sounds good! Do yourself a favor, check the payload on the door sticker and make sure it is enough. The lariat has lots of goodies and like my platinum, the payload takes a hit.
I am topping out at 6500 pound camper before I am over weight. Max Tow add a bit to payload but not much...

This thread might help and shed some light on what you are looking for. It does not sound like (if you are going to tow heavy) that the Limited may be a good choice for you.

Why do you say that? If that's the heaviest I was towing I would look at a 5.0L with 3.73s or an EcoBoost with 3.31s. Both are rated for well over 9,000 lbs, and for $400 more you can add the tow mirrors. I'd LOVE a 3.31 rear end with my current truck, but with my ocasional towing over 11,000 lbs I had to get the max tow which forced me into 3.73s.

Sorry, I was just trying to see if there is something wrong with a friend at work new 6.2L Screw 4wd. He went from San Antonio to Houston and from San Antonio to Rockport getting between 15-16 mpg keeping the cruise at 75 mph(the speed limit here in Texas). When you said you were doing about 10 mph over the limit then I was thinking 75-80 mph, and if you were getting 18 mpg at that speed then I was going to tell my friend that he needs to take his truck in to get looked at.

Since your 18 mpg was cruising between 60-65 mph then I can see that. Again, I am sorry and maybe I should have explained why I was asking first.

"If you can, post some pictures of that truck you are looking at and possibly the VIN.
There are folks here who can run that VIN for you and confirm how it was built. IIRC --- the 2011 Limited was NOT available with the Max Tow, though it is likely it has the tow package. If it does NOT have the dumbo mirrors, then it most likely does not have max tow. "

Here is the VIN number 1FTFW1C61BFA55362

Here is the link to the truck at the dealership

http://fivestarchevrolet.com/preowne...1BFA55362.aspx

We have asked the dealer to provide us with the numbers on the door sticker before we drive down there. Not to get anyone angry but I really don't trust the Ecoboost for it's longevity. I keep trucks 10-15 years and I have a hard time believing I won't have issues with the turbos towing that much. Wife thinks we will be fine towing as she knows more than I do about some of these specs but I agrue with her how can a 6 cyclinder tow that much and I be able to keep the truck that long. She has tried to convince me on the ecoboost but I just am not sure.

For the question about why we need to Max tow package, I have always been told to tow our camper that weighs 7800- 8000 lbs with a tongue weight of around 800lbs I would need the max tow package.

If we can't get the max tow package on a F150 that works for us then I might have to go back to thinking about the F250. Who would have thought buying a truck can be this hard.

Your window sticker is HERE. It does have the max tow package.

While I get what you're saying, people have been using EcoBoost-equipped trucks to tow lots of weight for nearly three years now. Along the way some of them have broken 100,000 miles, and failures are few and far between.

I'm gonna be blunt: You have always been told wrong. See HERE. The majority of configurations are equipped to tow your camper. There's absolutely no reason you need a max tow truck to pull that; in your shoes if concerned about the EcoBoost long term reliability I would HIGHLY recommend a 5.0L truck with 3.73 gears. As you can see in the factory specs that I provided, such a truck is rated to tow in excess of 1,000 lbs MORE than your trailer weighs.

You seem to be convinced that you need far more truck than you actually need; 8,000 lbs has been well within range of a half ton truck for years now. Why would you sacrifice ~5 MPGs for a truck that won't get the job done any better?

I purchased my travel trailer based on what my F150 (97 supercab) was rated to tow. I bought a 30 ft. ultra light, fully loaded, under 6000 lbs. The truck was rated at 7000. After my first camping trip, white-knuckle driving 100 miles on the interstate, I immediately sold the F150 and picked up an F250 (97, crew cab).

I just ordered an F150 screw w/ max tow for the same trailer. Overkill? Sure, but 3-4 years down the rode when I look to replace the trailer I would like to have more options than the handful of ultra lights that fit my needs.

Unfortunately weight isn't nearly as important as configuration when it comes to stability. That 6,000 lb trailer you have is every bit as challenging, and more so in some ways, than a 9,000 lb trailer of the same length. Weight affects how fast you come up to speed, how well you climb a grade, and not a whole lot else.
