Default mass airflow sensor question.

Is it possible to install the mass airflow sensor "backwards"? I installed a cai this past weekend and Im 95% sure I reinstalled the sensor facing the correct way.(curved corner facing the filter)? Engine is a 5.0 btw. Thanks

Wait...What?

Granted I have no knowledge of the 5.0 MAF, but on my Nissan there is no way you could install it upside down, backwards yes. But I guess if the MAF is in a complete round housing, that takes up the whole intake pipe, you could install it upside down. But the sensor itself (usually held in with security torx screws) I don't think you could do either because I don't think the holes will line up.

But like I said, I don't know anything about the MAF in these new trucks.

Mark, you may be right, I don't know for sure.

OP, on most MAF's that I've seen there is a flow indicator arrow on the sensor, that should tell you. And like "the silver bullet" said did you get any codes?

If you instal it backwards then the engine will spin backwards. You will have to put it in reverse to go forward. However, you will only have one gear. If you want to go fast, just put it in drive and go backwards like i do.

No codes have shown up. It just seems im not getting as good of mileage as i did with the stock tube and filter. This is why I thought maybe I done it wrong. Or maybe the truck has not "learned " its on there yet, like I hear some people talk about. Btw, I did unhook the battery during install.
