It should be a DVD, if not it may be a one time key to download to usb but most OE are disc based.

Yeah, but a map doesn't tell you to turn right at the next intersection.

And when my wife is upset with me, my nav is the only woman who will talk to me!

Salesman told me that there is no charge for map updates that they download automatically through the satellite.

It is a DVD and latest is 9P for Ford, Lincoln & Mercury released in 1st Qtr 2010. Question is how do you get a DVD to upgrade the system, must be done using a PC but how?

It looks like it might be from Ford, but if you read it closely, it is from www.navigation.com.

Anyone else get this?
That map crap is such a scam. I have a Garmin that is a few years old and went online to get updates. They wanted a touch over $100 for a year worth of updates! Are you kidding me! I could buy a nicer unit then I have now for about the same money.

And your situation is exactly why I am not busted up about not having a factory nav system in any of my vehicles. $199 for updates, that’s usury.

I understand they send you a DVD but you have to furnihs them your application code when purchasing. This then limits the installation to only your navigaton unit with that particular application number.

Someone mentioned they got their upgrade free. Come on now, we are all interested -- how did you do it?

I have a Garmin for my wife's vehcile and had one for my other vehicle before I traded it in for the Platimum 2010.

I agree that it is a lot of money for the factory system but having experience with both units, the factory system has a lot more extras and a larger and clearer display, better voice activation, etc. Plus I donj't have to worry about hiding it when I'm parked in some strange area.

I thought it was worth the money but I have a friend who bought the base XLT who thinks I'm crazy for buying something with all the bells and whistles. But then too, he still has an analog TV
