Default Magnaflow 22" drones more than my 18"

Okay first I'd like to apologize for another exhaust drone post but the search box won't let me input "22" so I get every result that says "Magnaflow drone".

Anyways I have two F-150's with two different exhaust setups using Magnaflow mufflers. They are as follows:
2001 4.6 V8 si/do 18" muffler
2010 5.4 si/so 22" muffler (factory pipes)

Now I just put in the 22" muffler and took it out on the highway and it has a very annoying drone right around 70mph which is inconvenient because that is the speed I normally travel. I'm pretty confused because my 22" muffler is much much quieter than my 18" but the 18" has absolutely no drone. Now a few questions popped in my head when I heard this. Could this drone be caused by the fact that I kept the stock tailpipe and now have an after market muffler? How can I reduce this drone or at least "move" it somewhere else in the rpm range. I know there are many posts speaking about the benefits of resonator but I just figured this was worth while to post because of the differences between my two trucks. Can I modify the tailpipe at all? The factory system doesn't have a resonator in it, right? Any advice is greatly appreciated!! I'd really like to get this resolved before I drive from SC to Kansas in a few weeks.

The resonator is the small muffler looking thing that's closer to the front of the truck than the muffler. They are resonated from the factory. The resonator really helps with drone with aftermarket exhausts and is as free flowing as you can get, pretty much. It may quiet the exhaust note a bit, but it's worth it for the drone reduction. That said, I have a Corsa xtreme, and there is absolutely zero drone at any speed, even with no resonator.

Okay so the resonator is still in place but the drone is occurring. Maybe I have to double up on resonators?

Also I clearly botched the title of this thread.

No, some mufflers just drone more than others. If it's resonated, you might just have to change it out for something else that works for you.

Thanks for the input. Just found it strange that the large Magnaflowdroned more than the smaller. Led me to believe that it was something other than the muffler.

Looked under my truck today and do not see a resonator. Any body have any input?

If the resonator is not there I would have one added. My truck has a single in single out 3" magnaflow with a vibrant performance 3" x I think 18" long resonator and it has very minimal to no drone except when I have a heavy load behind me.

09 and 10 5.4s and 4.6s have no resonators.

I went with the 22in on my 2010 thinking it would be less prone to any drone but mine does have a little drone to it as well. Thinking about swapping it out for a Borla to try and eliminate it.

My 2014 5.0 is using the 22 inch magnaflow with the factory resonator and I have no issues with drone at 60mph+
