Default Low Roar in 4x4

This has probably been brought up a hundred times but I cant seem to find a thread to match my problem. So I apologize in advance.

I have a 2009 f150 fx4 and I am getting a low growl from the front right area when locked into 4x4. When I switch back to 4x2 the growl goes away after I come to a stop. Am i looking at a simple iwe issue? I am not familiar with this 4x4 system as I am coming from an 03 where the CVs always spin.

Thank yall for taking the time to help out a new guy to the 12th gen platform.

Sounds like one of the IWEs isn’t fully engaging. I’d pull the line off of one side, plug the line and the hub to avoid getting dirt in the system and then drive in 2WD. If the noise continues that is probably the bad one. I’d do the other side also just to double check.

Doubtful at this time but, it could also be your front diff. Have you checked fluids? Or changed the fluid yet if the PO hadn’t?

Ill see about checking the IWE system at the hub. Hopefully it will be an easy fix. I have checked the fluid in the front diff and it looks good and smells like it should. I didn't notice any metal build up on the plug so im hoping the differential is in good shape.

Thank you for taking the time to point me in the right direction.
