Louisiana Income Tax

E85 is a joke. Here in Texas it's only 20 cents cheaper than regular unleaded at the local Shell station. I tried filling up with it once, and my mileage decreased about 3mpg. So I lost money on the deal.
On a side note, when there are people starving in this world, why would you destroy an editable food like corn in order to make e85, instead of just drilling for more oil of which nobody can eat?

As for the topic of the thread, what an amazing tax break. Wish I could have gotten in on something like that. Oh wait, I don't pay any state taxes.

actually ethanol is no longer subsidized, and if you find e85 for 20% cheaper than gas you come out ahead. Prices differ vastly from area to area I notice in my travels, its harder to ship than regular gas so the closer you are to a ethanol plant the more likely for it to pay off using it you will be.

Dont the manufacturers get a credit toward their CAFE rating for flex fuel vehicles as well...even though most dont get used that way either? I know I've never even seen a gas station selling E85 but I expect they will all be selling E15 in a couple years.

E85 in Omaha Nebraska is $2.99. Regular is $3.89. I used e-85 for a couple of tanks. 5.0 ran good on it but lost 2.5 miles to the gallon. I come out about $7.00 a tank ahead using E-85. Not really a big enough difference to make me want to chase down a E-85 pump when I need fuel.
