may have reflashed the computer, Ford sends out updates all the time. I have a SCT on my Mustang GT and was told to reflash back to stock before taking back to dealer. luckily have never had a problem in the 8 years I have owned it. Had 1 recall but never took it back for that, they finally got tired of sending me a letter.

It'll catch a little drag and spin a little bit with the wheel after a while, but should spin directly with the wheel if you get what i mean

I have driven nearly 2,000 miles since the service.

Is this something I can test myself?

Interesting thought though.
^ What he said. The half shaft shouldn't spin with the tire when the truck is running.
I think after 4 or 5 years is when the gears start to wear out too much that's it won't synch up and that's why it makes the grinding noise. I'm gonna take a guess that ours are too new and mesh right up, if it loses it's air.
On a side note, you reminded me I needed my oil changed, and they found both rear shocks leaking.
So at 26,000 miles it's pretty good timing for, a couple new free shocks.
