Default Looking for a Tuner - advice? 5.0

Hey guys,

I am looking to get a tuner for my 5.0 F150 to help with the throttle response and engine shift points. Currently it runs a bit slow to downshift when power is needed and want to make it run more ‘crisp’. Any advice on what type of tuner to get i.e. bullydog, Edge, superchips, hypertech, diablo, etc. Thanks!

sct x4 with More Power Tuning (MPT) custom tunes or 5 star custom tunes.
Both do a good job on their performance and/or tow tunes but MPT is a little bit more aggressive and a little better street performance tune and 5 star is a little better known for their towing tunes.

I’m looking for a mild tune to just sharpen the response and shift points. You don’t think a canned tune will be ok for that?

I have used the 5STAR 87 octane tow/perf tune, and it was the best mod I could have made.

In tow/haul mode it keeps itself in the power and, doesn’t hunt for gears, no throttle lag, etc.

There is nobody better IMO

I use the 5 star 87 per:tow as well and love it. I’m on revision 3 and I think they nailed it this time.

5star, mpt, omega. the latter if you want a single tune for any octane without having to switch.

If you buy a XCal 4 from Stage 3, it includes three tunes from 5Star. You upload info from your PCM to 5Star and they make sure the tunes will work with it.

If you can wait a few months, there are usually decent discounts on the SCT tuners (XCal, LiveWire) as Black Friday deals in late November and early December.
