Looking for Ideas on a newer Noise...
Hello,
A little OCD about noises, so looking for some similar experiences to see if I am possibly on the right track...
2012 F150 Eco 39xxx miles
Recently within the past 2-3 months? I have noticed what sounds like a high spot on the rotor hitting the pad in what I believe to be the drivers side. If you go faster, it will occur faster. The kicker that makes me believe it is not brake related is that it does not go away when brakes are applied. It will continue and reduce in occurrence until you are completely stopped.
I have taken apart the front braking system multiple times. From what I can tell...
Is it as simple as the wheel bearing? What I have read is a bearing going will be a constant groan or growl. Where this is a rhythmic scrape during the wheel rotating.
Thanks for any ideas or experiences that may be similar that you dealt with. My wife will certainly appreciate me solving this as she is sick of my complaining about said noise

- Rotor are not warped (replaced with duralast golds in April '16 due to warped OEM rotors) and I cannot mimic sound when wheel is in the air and spun by hand
- IWE is disengaging, wheels off ground and engine on in 2wd the half shaft does not spin when hub is spun by hand
- pads slide freely in anti rattle clips and installed with ears on caliper piston side (ceramic Duralast gold)
- There is no movement in bearing when wheel is attempted to be moved at 12 and 6 position

In the spirit of updating the post I believe the issue to be my parking brake(s). I lifted rear wheels and they were hard to turn by hand. So I loosened the parking brake adjustment screw and that loosened them up a lot but is still lightly scraping.
I think the scissor mechanism is froze from all the road salt over the years. So I guess I will take them apart this weekend, clean, lube, and report back if that was the issue all along
Any tips let me know.

If you suspect wheel bearing, easy way to check is get wheel/tire off the ground, grab top and bottom of tire and try to push the top in towards the engine bay and pull bottom towards you. Alternate to see if you get any movement. There should be zero.
Pretty sure it is the parking brake. The little metal scissor engages are pretty corroded and not releasing pressure. I hammers them back to the disengaged resting place and it has been quiet all day.
Will disassemble and lube this weekend.
Strange how you think the noise is coming from front when it really is coming from the rear of the vehicle.
