Default New noise while driving

Hey everybody,

So basically, there's a noise coming from the front or back (sorry, it's hard to tell while driving) of the truck while driving. It sounds like a squeak or light rattling (like a small piece of metal that is jingling). It use to only happen over bigger bumps, but now it happens in just regular driving.

I believe it is coming from the front end. I'm guessing maybe ball joints or some other component in the front suspension? Maybe shocks? I'm only guessing, I'm not an expert

I installed 1.5" spacers on the truck, so it may or may not be caused by that? I'm unsure.

I'm just looking for some advice from all the experts out there! Thank you!

Caleb

I read something on here not too long ago about someone having issues trying to track down a noise. It ended up being the tailgate and lubricating the latches stopped it. Maybe a possibility?

I fixed this today. The squeaking was driving me nuts. I ended up putting some lube on the latches for the tailgate and both of the bushings that the tailgate pivots on. Also, make sure you close the tailgate with a little force. That fixed it instantly.

I couldn't tell if the squeaks were coming from the front or rear by driving. Try the tailgate first...

Thank you both for the quick responses!!

Anyways, I had a problem with the tailgate when I first bought it with it latching wrong. After the dealer fixed it, I noticed if I didn't close it hard enough on the passenger side it would squeak.

So unfortunately, I know that it's not the tailgate

Alright, I lied and now I feel embarrassed.

Just checked the tailgate. It squeaks, but didn't think it was loud enough to hear while driving. It's squeaked before, but I thought I had resolved the issue. And this squeak sounded a bit different than the last.

Anyway, all I have to do is lubricate the latches?

Yeah I think so, you can check the rubber bumpers too.

Do the latches and the rubber bushings around the hinges at the bottom of the tailgate.

I'm in the tailgate lubing camp as well. First time I mentioned the squeak to the dealer they blamed it on my tailgate assist. I lube the latches every 4 months or so and all good.
