I didn't mean to project to anyone. I meant to convey what I had interpreted. I interpreted incorrectly. I wasn't knocking your choice of a Platinum, but what I thought were the reasons behind the purchase of a Platinum.

The "luxury" car dealership story pretty much communicates what I think of the average used "luxury" car buyer. I'd buy an e30 M3, but not because I hope it impresses anyone.

For what it's worth, a lot can be revealed about an individual by their choice of vehicle. After all, you've just given a plethora of reasons as to why you went for what you went for. There are reasons I got mine. A person's vehicle is the most telling thing about "who" they are. If it's a mess inside, you can tell a person doesn't much care for cleanliness. My ex was a perfect example. If it's got camo crap all over it, then they either like the woods, or want to look like they like the woods.

I knew a stoner kid who was always blazin' and was all about the Florida Georgia life. He then bought a 4x4 Cummins crew cab, grew a handlebar mustache, and now speaks with a southern drawl that is hard to be found in my region, took up dipping, wearing cowboy hats etc. I took you for that type of person - buying a vehicle for an image. I detest that, but understand that no one but me cares about my opinion.

Again, the truck looks great and I hope you enjoy it.

side note: you wrote that it was "thinly veiled" advice - you and I both know it wasn't advice, but attacking what I saw as your reasoning behind your choice. I wanted to make that much clear. Advice would have side-stepped that. I tried to get you to admit to buying it for status. You have proven me wrong.

OMFG, it seemed it went into BEAST mode. No doubt about it: this '11 6.2 Platinum kicks my previous '09 5.4 Platinum to the curb. I had a BMW 335i (3.5L straight six twin turbo) and the low end seat-of-the-pants rush this heavy 6.2 F-150 has will give that much lighter sedan a run for its money on the street (highway is a different story of course).

Wow sorry that your thread got derailed into knuckheadness. Yeah thats a word.;)

That is my exact thought as well. Man it is has a race engine feel to it when you get it reved up. My 5.4 Ran great, especially on 91 Oct and the tuner, but it still fell flat above 3.5k. It was a great truck engine as it made good power down low.

This 6.2, makes much much more power down low but man it wants to rev as well. Love the sound it makes when it opens up.

So glad you found your truck! Thank you for your service to our country so we can have our freedoms! Still after a bit I am just so excited to have the 6.2. Its different which I like and it is just awesome. Can't say anything bad about it!

Yea, I never really appreciated the better performance potential of the three new power plants that replaced the 5.4, until now.

And it does sound different than the 5.4, especially when I open up the throttle (both have stock exhausts).

If it was offered in DOHC, I would consider it in my 1966 Mustang GT Fastback. But for such a small, light car, a highly modded DOHC Coyote should be more than enough! It presently has an original 1970 BOSS 302 mated to a Doug Nash 5-speed.

Thanks. I was apprehensive at first with the 6.2 not knowing much about it, but I'm now thrilled with it!

I dig the color combo, so so much.

Almost bought a Lariat that was brown, but it was a lighter shade that didn't have as much "presence" if you will. Had I found the darker brown that your Platinum is, I would've been all over it. And $20k? Damn.

Sounds like you're loving it so far and I can see why!
