Its real easy, just remove the light (2 screws) and you will need a syringe to pour the paint into the edge from the back side. You can find syringes for a buck or two that will work. I used one for feeding ill pets from the pet store.

Did you try replacing you bulbs with super bright LED bulbs?

Take the tail lights off the truck and paint the edges on the backside. I used an artist's brush (I'm no artist) and painted by hand using Testor's model paint. If I was doing it again i would use paint that dries faster like a laquer. The edge near the tailgate is somewhat hard to get to but it can be done.

Oh and this is very important. You have to pick out the plastic that spews out of the welded area using a box cutter or something similar so you get a nice clean edge to paint up to or the will black will look jagged on the outside. Look down inside the lens assy where the housing meets the clear lens and you will see what I mean.

The post above gives the link to the taillight painting thread, lots of good info there.

I didn't care for the tail lights on my 2013 Limited so I installed these.

No, I'm not a LED expert but I'm pretty sure they make direct replacements that use the same sockets.

I think the Recons smoked do look the best and with a set of halo lights up front, but they do cost quite a bit.
