Why bother with the cap if they want the gas they will put a hole in your tank it is only plastic.

The gas plug is nice, i like having a locking plug to keep the would be thief away. With any criminal if they want something bad enough they can drill a hole in your tank. Takes more time and more noisy and risky. Just like Tunneau cover, it keeps the ave thief out but if someone is determined to get in they can, just like any crime but the cap just eliminates the not so determined thief from my gas or putting anything in my tank. $20 piece of mind. I like mine and it keeps dirt/debris and road dust or water from heavy driving rains from entering the nossle entry way.

The only way a thief can get gas out of your tank is by drilling a hole in the tank itself. The reason why is there's a ball valve where the filler tube meets the tank so there's no way to get a hose into the tank.

I'll give you an excellent reason - theft. My Platinum has a 40 gal tank and they got me last night. Gas prices go up, people steal gas.
