Question Summary of F-150 problems

I have been reading the forum here for several months, but just recently joined. I really would like to purchase an F-150 in the near future, but I would rather not spend $35k (after rebates) on a truck that has some quality issues. I have read all the current TSBs. From all the other postings, I would summarize the common problems here: transmission shifting (1-2 bump), driveshaft bushing replacement, hard acceleration shudder, leaky 3rd brake light, and some paint quality issues. The drivetrain stuff has me concerned, because I would not be happy living with that kind of crap every time I drive the truck. I can accept the 14-18 MPG that comes with a 6,000lb truck, but I fail to believe that the new 6spd is that different from the 4 spd from an engineering standpoint. The problems seem to stem from the lower gears, not the two overdrive gears at the end (5&6). I understand it is probably a software issue. Does the reflash really work to improve the situation?
So here is what I am asking... give me a summary of your problems and whether you would buy it again (or recommend a friend buying one), given your level of satisfaction with the remedy provided. Are you still having problems, and do you remain content with your purchase? Thank you.

All of these issues are minor in the grand scheme of things. My truck shifts as smooth as sink, everything inside and outside is made of the quality than other companies cant match now and Ford couldnt match even 4 or 5 years ago IMO.
I have owned trucks from pretty much every company out there, Nissan Titan, Toyota Tacoma, GMC Sierra... and recently drove a new Silverado for one week. Truly everything about the F150 is better - seems better built, functions better, and all Fords are built in America. (the Chevy was built in Canada).

Good luck with whatever you choose, but I think everyone on this forum would agree, you will not be dissapointed if you choose an F150.
BTW, 32k on and off road miles on my '09, heavy loads in bed, and nothing I would classify as a "problem".

I have an 09 and have not had any of the issues mentioned above. Had the transmission bump for a few thousand miles but it all quit around 5-7k. Have about 13.5k on it now and running better than ever.

I just bought a 2010 and love it and have no issues like those mentioned. I only have 2k miles so far.

I looked at all trucks and narrowed it down to a GM product and Ford. Over 3 months I test drove and reviewed GM and Ford. In my opinion I would give Ford a 10 and GM a 7.5/8 and all the others less than 7.5 or less.

If you are one that looks or uses consumers guide their review results show better reliablity for Ford.

I am a first time truck owner and use it for hauling my boy's friends and all their surf gear, mine included. The ride is smooth and the interior simple and finished well. I especially like it when we surf areas that have potholes and mud, and then clean it up and take it to work on the highway. I previously owned a Volvo 2007 S60R sedan and the transition to my 2010 XLT 5.4 2wd SCrew has been great. Hope this helps.

Default No Issues Here

Have a 2010 Lariat. No issues, and it's the best all around truck I have ever owned. (& I've had LOTS)

I have a 2009 FX4. I had the harsh shifting issue, TSB helped and it has gotten much better with age. Also had the leaking third brake light, that was also fixed. I still have the shuddering feeling when you come to a stop, just before you actually *stop* there's a feeling like something is pushing the truck forward. All in all I don't mind a lot and I would buy it again.

I have had my truck since april 2 and have about 3000 miles on it. No problems. I love it and wouldn't trade it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Had rain the day after I got it and some more since then and no leaks. The transmission feels great.
