Default Line x - Color match or not

I have a 2012 Ingot Silver FX4 and debating to match or go with the standard black. Apparently, they are unable to do the tailgate as it's a part of the system of the tailgate step and that liner is black. They want $425 for black premium and $700 to color match. I really want to match, but not being able to do the tailgate is discouraging.

I figure that a bed is not a pretty part of the truck, therefore I would always have mine done in black. It does all the dirty work and black Bedliners are easy to keep clean and handle spills. It's your call, but I'd get it done in black. Plus maybe some day you may get a bed cover and just cover it up anyway. Thats alot of extra dough for a bed

Yeah, the dilema is if the cost is worth it. Asking why the difference in price, they replied "there are added processes involved including removing all the black from the hose."

I agree. It will never completely match due to the difference in surfaces and textures anyway. I think it looks cheesy. I saw a line-x yellow ranger with it doing spray ins on site at the dealer and I thought it looked like crap.

I have a 2011 Scab, I just got black line-x. It goes well together, I would do it this way again if i were getting a new truck.

I thought about getting it matched for my '13 Limited (White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat), but decided to just go with black.

The local place that does Line-X said they DO spray under the tailgate piece, but just replace the plastic after spraying it. They said they do this so the paint isn't seen around the plastic, and it just gives a cleaner look.

an option...as contained in previous threads. If you can live without the grabhandle/stripper pole, you can replace the black plastic tailgate cover with an OEM metal---as standard on non-step tailgates. The tailgate step remains fully functional, while allowing the normal Line-X (or brand of choice) spray-in application.
