Lift and 37" tires

Got a buddy wanting to run the Rancho 4" lift and 37's. I think it will clear based on my truck running 35's but has anyone actually tried it?

Please don't just say "it won't work" if you haven't actually had real world experience, want real world I've tried and it worked/didn't work and here's why.

I would say it could on stock rims or something close to that back spacing. I'm running a 4.5 rough country on my 12 f150 4x4 with 20x10s with -24 offset and rub pretty good. I had to trim a little bit of plastic but it works.

What size tires? He's looking at 9" wide wheels with +12 offset

Didn't realize I did not post my tire size. I am running a 35x12.50. I know my wide rim choice and negative backspace has a lot to do with rub. I had a 97 ram 1500 4x4 that ran 37x12.50 swampers with no lift at all and they fit . It can be done on an f150 with just the right setup. Not sure how bad offroad it would rub for your friend but I think a daily driver would be ok.

Friend of mine ran 37" toyos on stock KR wheels on a rancho+level. Looked fkn awesome.

I have a 4" Rancho lift on my 2011 FX4 Eco SCrew. I started with 35's (Nitto Terra Grapplers 325/65R18 (34.88 x 12.99) on 18" wheels with a 4.5" backspace. I trimmed the plastic behind the front tires down to metal, then had to trim significantly in front of the tires. At 1/2 to 3/4 turn of the wheels I could get my tires to rub nearly daily (mainly behind the tires where I had already trimmed down the plastic to metal). The biggest problem with the backspace is the the tires stuck fairly wide and when I would turn it was the inside back of the tires that would rub on the outside of the fenders. I had the dealer change out my wheels to a 5.75" backspace which pulled the tires/wheels in 1-1/4" and it totally solved by rub/drag problem. So, based on my experience (street and offroad), you'll have tire rub/drag with 37s. If you really want 37's then I'd suggest you go to a 6" lift. If anyone says 37s will fit, with a 4" lift then the tires are going to have to be really narrow, you'll have to have a larger backspace, and you'll have to do major plastic trimming in-front and behind the wheels and probably even have to take a large hammer to pound back the outside of the fenders behind the wheels. Might work for street use, but I wouldn't recommended it for any offroad use.

Any other input on this from anyone running something close?

Rancho now makes a 6" for the 2009-13 models... That would be a better option than doing the 4..

I'm running the Rancho 4" with a 18x9 (+18 offset) wheel and 325/65R18 Nittos and I had to trim some plastic on the front also. Very little but I did have to trim. The +12 offset will stick out a little further. I think 37" tires on that wheel will be a tough fit. Just my opinion...

Anyone actually figure out the needs backspace wise and suspension mods to run a 37x12.50 tire ?
