Leveling Kit and Messed up electronic steering?
My electronic steering was messed up on my 2011 FX4 when I had my leveling kit installed. I think it was because the mechanic did not disconnect the battery.
Is this the same for a 2014 ecoboost? Would the battery need to be disconnected to avoid this issue?

My guess would be yes, and why take a chance by not doing it?

That strikes me as weird, I installed my Rancho QuickLifts myself in about 2 hours on my '13 5.0 4x4, never disconnected the battery because I saw no reason, and have zero issues with my steering. Even my alignment was still within tolerance afterward. I also had to disconnect the steering shaft when I installed my headers and there are no issues that arose out of that either.

Yea I did the same thing as Army_Monkey, I have a 12' platinum with a rancho quick level that I also installed myself. No issues with it. However, I did align it when I was done because I hate driving a truck out of alignment.

It's become a pretty common problem that not disconnecting the battery will effect the electronic steering on 2011 and up 5.0L and 3.5L. There are many other threads regarding the issue. It's sometimes hard to tell that it's even messed up and only shows itself in certain situations. If you guys installed your kits without disconnecting the battery, there's a better than average change your steeling has been effected too. Dealerships can't even tell the steering has been effected unless they use a tool (I can't think of the name of it for the life of me right now) that basically listens to the steering box.
I used a 2" AutoSpring kit. No wheels spacers. Installed Nitto Trail Grappler 295/60/20's. Aligment was required.
