Leveling kit and bigger tire ride quality
Hey guys, I am new to F150s from an 08 Powerstroke. I have a 2012 FX4 with 5.0 and eventually will be leveling it and putting some bigger tires on it. I have used the search but unable to find many comments on ride quality of particular kits and tire combinations.
I am coming from a lifted 6.4 crew cab powerstroke, and I am tired of having something that beats you half to death on midwestern highways, I like the way the FX4 rides stock, so I am wondering what people have experienced in ride quality differences after adding a level and some 33-35" tires?
I love the look of Toyo M/T but I don't think I am going to go with a tire that aggressive due to noise and how heavy they are.
It looks like Duratracs are a good option or possibly BFG all terrain (I dont like whitewalls however)
Anyone have recommendations on which combo keeps a nice ride quality? I havent decided if I am going to use stock 20s or go to some BMF or Fuel wheels yet
Thanks for any input and sorry if this topic has been beat to death.

I added a 2inch leveling kit and 34' duratracs on the stock 20inch rims to my 2011 FX4. It rides slightly rougher but it is still pretty smooth. I believe the thick side walls of the duratracs are to blame for the slightly stiffer ride.

Id suggest a 2 inch leveling kit. Or if you can swing it and adjustable coil over kit. On the 6.4Ls alot of guys run the Icon leveling kits, they are very good for the F150s as well. Also the boss coil over kit from F150 lifts is a great deal with good reviews. This gives you the adjustable ride height and ride quality where you want it. Id stay with a 33-34 tire and look at some options 11-12 wide.

Stage3, looks good, Does the Icon kit add a rear block as well or just the front. Also what tire size are you running there?
Mine is a white fx4 so I am looking at black wheels if I go for those.
I want to make sure I can get it comfortably in and out of my standard garage door.
Thanks for the replies

Disregard Stage3, I just looked at them on your website. It looks like the Boss system is quite a bit cheaper, I assume the $799 is just for the front coilovers, and then block the rear?

pretty much any substantial lift or tire size increase will "change" the ride. whether it is still "quality" is a matter of personal opinion. Some like a truck to ride like a truck. Some prefer it to ride like a caddy. A quality ride can be achieved with lifts and big rubber, but if you want the latter, better stay pretty close to stock.
