Default level and duratracs, harsh. Suspension?

I have an 11 5.0 fx4. I installed an auto spring 2.5 level on the front and a bigger 3" block in the back. Honestly the ride was ok still then. But then I installed my good year duratrac 285 60 R20 tires and the truck rides so bad now. You feel every little bump and harshly. When you hit bridge bumps the truck darn near wants to kick out in the rear.

I'm guessing and or praying I can fix this with some suspension upgrades as the tires are quiet and perform great.

So the question is , are others experiencing this with duratracs. Is this resolvable or do I need to switch tires?

If it is resolvable with some better suspension what are people finding is the best bang for your buck.... shocks, coil overs, adjustable and remove the spacers?

I won't be doing much offroading. Maybe light trails, lot of road trips, haul a 18 ft flat dual axle trailer with my Kubota loader on it, stuff like that. I really just want to get a much better ride from the truck.

Thanks.

I set mine to 40-42 psi. Shop had them at 60psi. Night and day difference. Definitely check the psi.

You went from a P to an LT tire.

I just did a 2" level and 285/60/r20 duratracs at 50psi and honestly think my truck rides better than before. You feel small bumps more so but potholes and washboard I find the same. Cornering and overall feel I like.

Not sure how the rear shocks perform with a bigger block but by the sounds of it not good. Could be the issue.

I have been trying to research leveling kits a lot and a couple sources I have come across are saying more than 2 in the front a more than 1.5 in the rear can get pretty harsh with some set ups. You might have gone a little too high in the rear with blocks. I bet if you changed out the rear to a 1", your issue will clear up

Two things!

1. You have LT tire now which have a stiffer sidewall hence the higher pressures, I wouldn't run an LT tire below 40psi. I run mine at 50.

2. Sounds like you're using stock shocks which are horrible at damping. When stock the same thing happened but it wasn't exaggerated due to tires and level.

Get some new shocks. I would do rear right away but would also do the fronts with a coilover or at least a 5100 by bilstein.

My last truck was a 2012 FX4 screw. I added a 2"AS front spacer and the 3" rear block. At the same time, I did aftermarket wheels and 34" Trail Grapplers. On smooth roads, it was great. Towing? Solid. But when I hit a pothole, it would feel like I had no suspension. It really did ride rough on poor pavement compared to stock.
Fast forward to my current truck. 2014 FX4 screw. I went "milder" and did just an 1 1/2" AS front level and didn't touch the rear. At the same time I added 275 65 20 Duratracs. Honestly, my ride is better than with the stock Scorpions. I run 42 lbs front and 40 lbs rear. Couldn't be happier.
One thing I noticed between the 2 trucks. There is a low, uneven spot on my road. The 2012 would " top out" the suspension when I hit it. The 2014 does not. 1/2" lower on level. Obviously I try and avoid that part but it's getting difficult given our poor roads in WV.
The Duratracs so far are my favorite tire all around. And I've owned most brands. The Trails had the WOW factor for looks and they really did well in all weather. But were heavy and rode pretty rough. The Duratracs laugh at snow and rain. Pretty quiet too. Looks still garner compliments at the gas station.

I forgot to mention that the tires are heavier and the stock dampers will be overcome by the weight. They can't control the rebound speed of the heavier setup.
