FYI, this is what NFab (Smittybilt) nerf bars look like in five years. Just to note, there is not a spot of rust ANYWHERE else on this truck...

Just outside of warranty, smittybilt was unresponsive. It's just a bad design, those hoops hold water and rust out from the inside out. Combined with crappy powdercoating, thin material and poor welds, and it's pretty much junk as soon as the warranty expires.

I expected better.

Repaced my 'rusted to dust' Smittybilt step bars with some Westin HDX drop steps...

Seem to be much higher build quality, better mounting system, the steps themselves are in a better position than the Smitty's, and I love the way they look!

At $317 on Amazon and a $50 rebate on top of that, priced really nicely as well.

I have to agree! On my 2011 before I traded it a few months ago, I had purchased a set of TrailFX bars, which look identical to the NFAB. After less than a year of them on the truck, they were peeling the powder coat and rusting around the step hoops, and under the bars. I had to touchup with rust paint numerous times. I contacted the company, they wanted me to remove both bars and send back to, meaning I would be a month or two with no step bars, so I said screw it, and left them on. I must say, I loved the bars, the look and the ease of use, contrary to what some say, but the quality and paint coat were terrible. Yes, I live in Canada, but should have gotten more that 12 months rust free. Unlike the NFAB, these were capped on both ends of the bars, while NFAB's are open, to allow all the water and such to accumulate inside.
