i open mine 10 to 15 times a day with out problems. wow i wish you had as good of luck as i have. mine don't move and i have had it off the truck a lot of times. man looks like i got a good one and you sir got a bad one. i don't know where you live but if it freezes where you live the retractable ones will freeze up on you.
if you ever open it with leaves on it you will be tacking a chance that junk (leaves/dirt) will get caught in there and clog it up. wish you best of luck
