Nitto Trail Grapplers
Now, if I used my truck predominantly off-road I think they would be great. A recent trip up a few West Virginia mountains confirmed that.
I am contemplating going from the 305-55-20 Nitto to Michelin 285-55-20 AT-2 tires. Like you, it would cost me about $500. I don't like that but believe the tires would save me more than that in fuel costs in one year and I wouldn't have to put up with the noise and harsh ride.
The road noise is so loud that I can't hear my turbos whine. Haven't made up on changing them for sure yet.
Have you considered Michelin over the Good Year Duratracs? The price is about the same. I have had better luck with Michelin's and a better ride than Good Year or BF Goodrich.

I am also running trail grapplers and am somewhat unhappy with them for 3 reasons: 1. Harsh ride 2. Poor gas mileage 3. Too much road noise.

Yeah, some people's kids need to get over it. My Mickey Thompson Baja's AT's are not quiet but tolerable. You want big sweet looming tires then your going to hear them no matter what the tire.

I wouldn't ever use an MT for lack of me needing them. But my buddy has some on his 2009 Sierra and while a little noisy at first (and they floated a lot) they actually aren't that bad after a couple thousand miles. I've had to drive it before and it's not too awful for a MT.
