Default Let's get an answer for the 1 piece/2 piece badges

I am getting fed up with the run of the mill F-150 badges lined in chrome that come on my FX4. It's too much chrome for a truck that is supposed to be chrome-free. So I want to paint them. Trouble is, I'm too cheap to get the FX appearance package badges, so I'll plasti-dip my badges exactly the same as the appearance badges with red/black plasti dip. I want to know If my badges are going to be two piece or one piece, cause having 2 piece would make my life a whole lot easier. My truck is a late 2011 build and it was a dearborn truck if it makes any difference. Is there any way i can tell by looking at the badge itself?

Do you mean to remove the chrome piece from the black? Because I have been wondering the same thing. I would love to Plasti-Dip just the chrome piece.

Yes. On some models the black 'F-150' innards separates from the chrome outer ring.

I think it depends on build date. I took a look at my dad's oct 2010 build Limited and they look one piece to me, however my sept 2011 build FX4 look two piece. Odd.

Check out the pics towards the bottom of the listing. Looks like they have those emblems in two separate pieces.

I've got a 12 FX4 and I'm pretty certain mine are two piece. Go out and push on the black part. If you see it come away from the chrome, it's two piece.

I agree on them being chrome, it looks horrible on FX4's. Mine is tuxedo black, I planned to paint the chrome sterling grey.

You could plasti-dip the badge and have a vinyl insert made for the inside of the lettering, talk to Moody Blue he makes any kind of custom graphics you can think up, his website is listed below where you can get his contact info...

My '09 badges seem to be one piece. To bad. I want to Plasti-Dip the chrome but don't want to paint over the nice texture of the inner black piece.
