Default LED light bar and bumper pads

Hey guys. I have been digging around on the forum for quite a while now tonight and tried to find as much info as possible, but I figured it would be smart to get a few opinions and some advice from some who have done this mod before placing my orders. I am wanting to put a LED light bar in my bumper opening. I know that to get the 20" bar to fit I will have to remove the bumper pads, trim them, and then re-install. My main question is how in the world do you guys get these dang pads off?? I have tried squeezing the tabs but cant get them to squeeze down tight enough to fit back through. Am i just not squeezing hard enough or what? I mean I squeezed just about as hard as I possibly could with my fingers, but still nothing. I also saw where some said they are such a PITA that the just ripped em off and bought new ones to replace them, but I really don't want to have to spend the extra money if I can figure something out. I have a extra 20" bar, that is on my boat, that I have mocked everything up with to see if I liked the look, and I do it looks really clean. So if you guys have any info as to how to make this install easier and specially pertaining to the bumper pads please let me know! Pictures would be much appreciated of in progress, or even finished product. Thanks in advance!

Haven't done a light bar but those covers are a pita to get off. Squeeze as close to the bumper as possible and try to get one side of the pin started through, then the work the rest of the pin. You can reach the two inside pins through the center bumper opening and then carefully reach the outer two. Sorry, no pics.

Thanks man I really appreciate it. The bumper pads are my main concern. So anything relating to them helps.

Sorry that You are having such a hard time with this. I've had mine off a few times and didn't have much trouble. All I remember is that you have to pull on it when releasing the tabs. do both tabs on one side so you can tilt it out, putting pressure on the remaining tabs, making those easier to come out.
