From the photos, you can't see across the street. I'll keep my HIDs.

I'm not sure what could be done to them to make them look good. Just my opinion though; I've never been fond of the one piece projectors.

On a side note, I do hope you upgraded the projector. They put terrible, horrible projectors in those headlights.

annnnnnnnd I'm done with LED.

I was very very close to buying a set. in fact they are saved on my amazon account. I spent waaay too much time and money on p&p HID's trying to find a decent setup. Only to put them in and either find they flat out suck, or light up oncoming drivers faces so clearly I can see them say "HOLY $#!+ thats bright". And either way end up taking them back out almost immediately.

I thought LED's were different and better.
MGD's and Res4cue's have shown me what a good headlight setup SHOULD look like. Thanks to both of you for saving another couple hundred dollars.
however a Good setup is not in my budget in the foreseeable future so I will be sticking with halogen for the time being. They may not be what I want, but at least I know they function as they are supposed to and they aren't causing a hazard for oncoming traffic.

on a side note, how do the knowledgeable folk feel about LED light bars? specifically a small 20" one in the bumper opening as an auxiliary for the dark back roads.

Pete, I have gone through a few PnP HIDs on my truck and a pair of LED bulbs on wife's Escape. The best thing I found until I can retro the truck is the Philips extreme vision halogens. They are great on wife's 12 escape too, those reflectors are similar to the 04-07 reflectors.

They are brighter lumen wise not just Kelvin wise they do shine a little farther on brights and light up the road with out blinding you better on low in both vehicles.

It just aggravates me, her patter is more evenly distributed than mine.

If you want the bar go for it, you never use it with on coming traffic anyway. Just know your local laws, if Law enforcement sees it on they might pull ya over. Or like Baton Rouge, you may need a cover for it to get a break tag.

I am with you, while I wasn't going to waste money on PnP lights because I already knew better, and I planned on retrofitting a pair of headlights in the future, those output shots just sold me on doing one as soon as funds allow it lol, that shot on the snowy road with the fxr is absurd, now I just have to decide between the fxr or the d2s, any suggestions?

Howdy.

I'd like to note here for clarity that the Philips Extremes do not actually have a higher Lu or MSCP output than the Sylvania equivalents - as shown here via Manufacturer's data ( H7's shown just as an example, but the same applies for all halogen types ):

https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...?partnumber=H7

http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/12972XV...specifications

Again - it's the Kelvin and bulb life specs that vary across the product line(s) (and the presence or absence of capsule tinting).

Also note - they are limited to a 55w maximum allowable power input rating by DOT mandate (for low beams), and given it's the standard Halogen gas cycle that is at work here, it's no wonder the Lu/MSCP outputs are all the same. No such thing as something for nothing.

Just fyi .. no worries.

Cheers

You may want to consider the 7.0 H1's. They are incredible, and reaching FX-R level.

What I think your seeing is that his lights seem to be aimed a little high. The cut off is great but does seem they could blind other drivers because of that.

That's what I was wondering. I still don't see cutoff in that photo not saying it's not there just don't see it. I was wondering if truck was lifted and maybe never adjusted lights.
