Don't think you mentioned what engine you have? for an Eco my vote would be the tune, from my knowledge the tune on an Eco gains far exceed the gains a tuned 5l will c

I have an eb. Thanks for the input. I'm surprised to hear that the tune would be more effective than a re gear.

Pretty tough to accurately measure true fuel economy to within 0.5 MPG. Certainly not with a fill-refill method. Way too many variables.

Tune first, then regear.

You need the tuner to adjust the gear ratio in the computer anyway.

A regear will cost a lot more than a loaded tuner. I paid over $1000 for my regear, parts & labor. My loaded tuner cost me $400 from MPT.

Thanks, but I can only choose one. My friend use to be a Ford mechanic for a long time, but now has his own shop. Since my truck is 2wd, he said he can do the rear for around 600. He can also flash the ecu (he already did my tire size change and police mode). Still undecided on what to choose , but I do have some time, and these opinions definitely do help. I do want the power back, but mainly want to relieve stress on the transmission from the upgrade in wheel size and I think the re gear will take care of that. Opinions are welcomed and greatly appreciated though.

What's police mode?

Given that your friend can do the gear swap so cheaply, I'd recommend that first. That said, a tuner will really wake up that EcoBoost but it won't relieve driveline strain.

for the $600 that the regear will cost you I would say do that! When I went from 3.55s to 4.56 on my 4x4 it was like night and day difference!

Keeps the lights from automatically coming on when locking /unlocking and opening the doors.

While in tow haul mode it will downshift while braking and going downhill. While it is running higher rpms, it is not burning more fuel.

Since being in tow/haul mode causes downshifting while breaking would it be a bad idea to drive in tow/haul mode while driving in rush hour traffic?
