Default Leaking 3rd Brake Light - Ford Premium Care Warranty DENIED

Just got the truck back from Milner Oquinn Ford in Harrisonville, Missouri. I took it in to have the following fixed under my several thousand dollar extended Ford Premium Care Warranty.

-Loose Driver Side Seat Track
-Leaking 3rd Brake Light
-Drivers Side Window Regulator Failing
-Rear Defrost Not Working
-Drivers Heated Seat Not Turning On
-Overhead Sunglass holder mechanism broken

My truck is a 2010 with 58,000 miles, and my premium care warranty is good until 100,000. I was told the sunglasses compartment nor the 3rd brake light would be covered. I was quoted at over 100 for the brake light, and well over that for the sunglasses holder. Both have been common issues with the truck, especially the 3rd brake light, yet they fail to cover under a several thousand dollar warranty due to it being a "water leak". Baffles the hell out of me, that one can purchase a truck that lists for 50K, and have a stained headliner and not be covered by Fords own warranty.

end rant...

Sorry for the trouble but people have to remember to read what the plan covers before you spring for it.

Inappropriate response. PremiumCARE is Ford ESP's top of the line offering. It SHOULD be covered, and since he was denied warranty support, I am considering whether it is even worth it to purchase it.

sucks for sure, but it does state it doesn't cover water leaks. I do agree, you would think it would cover almost everything.

I do agree that it's rather silly that it's not covered, although it's true that it doesn't cover water leaks.

That said, the last time it happened to me on another vehicle, I told them "Your TOP of the line warranty doesn't cover this?" Their response? "It's a simple gasket." My response to THAT was "That simply tells me Ford can't manufacture a gasket that works; this isn't exactly swaying me to want to buy a Ford in the future."

They ended up giving me a gasket so I could fix it myself. LOL Better than nothing.

Wow that's pathetic... A common problem and they write it out of the best ESP they offer.

You may be better to just silicone it yourself. On my 2011, I went through 5 lights. My 2104 (couple of months old) needed it replaced the day I picked it up. A week later, condensation. I silicone it - problem solved. Used RTV Clear. Although crappy that they won't cover it, the cure in this case may not be better than the problem itself.

If they did fix it. It would just start leaking again in a year after the new seal wore out. Fix it yourself with some silicone rtv. 15 min fix and never have to worry about it again.

I went ahead and got the Recon LED 3rd brake light ($99 + shipping but they have been running a lot of 10% and free shipping deals lately). The seal on it is MUCH better than the old factory style and it fixed my problem. As for the leak and not being covered, my dealer was going to fix it "no problem" under warranty and even clean (or replace) my headliner if Ford deemed necessary and I only had a certified pre-owned bumper to bumper warranty for one year. But I only ever take it to that dealer and we are close with the family who owns it.
