How's she goin' eh?
I think you’re right. Limited models came in a select few colours (blue or white) and two motor options.
Id consider the truck if it was only a street truck somewhere where there was no snow. I’d be afraid to rub my 22’s on a curb. Hell until I got the 305’s I cringed when I felt a rub on a curb.

ive got a 2011 platinum 6.2. i bought it specifically for the 6.2. sold my 06 f350 diesel when i found it. wonderful engine and tons of power. terrible gas mileage but i knew that going in. my 2011 has the 8 in nav screen and the rear heated seats. i think the rear heated seats have been used once..by me to test them out before i bought it.
my vote is for the 6.2 if you havent noticed haha

2011 6.2
I just bought a 2011 lariat with the 6.2. I just drove from northern nj down to Virginia beach then heading down to myrtle beach. This is a great engine. Plenty of power and I have the full roush exhaust . Also 127000 miles on it. Best gas mpg I have is 13mpg but Its not my daily driver. Just for family vacations.

I sold my 2010 Lariat two months ago and replaced it with a 2010 Platinum and have to tell you I thought I'd love the Platinum more but actually find myself missing the Lariat.
The automatic running boards are a nice idea but living with them isn't as fun as you'd think. My shins and back of my calfs have bruises and scratches on them from being just a little faster than the running boards getting in or out of the truck and my wife hates them. The Platinum gauges are more difficult to read and the needles have a pinkish tint at night that just don't seem very truck like.
The Platinum feels like it weighs 500 lbs more and is definitely slower in traffic than the Lariat. The interior and exterior trim does look a little nicer but it's not that much better and I barely notice the sound difference in the supposedly much better insulated Platinum.
If I had it to do all over again I'd have kept the Lariat as less is more in my opinion.

Perhaps your Platinum had a lesser gear ratio.
Also....who sells and buys a truck of the same year when its still an 8 year old truck? That's an odd one if you don't mind me saying.

It's not odd when you consider the Lariat had 230k miles on it and the Platinum has half that. Both had 3.55 limited slip and the Platinum feels heavier and is definitely not as quick. The newer 2011 and up trucks are really nice but for some reason I'm a big fan of the 5.4l (especially since I've fixed so many, been driving them since 1999, and have tons of spare parts in the garage.. although both the 5.0 and EcoBoost's in 2011 an up have proven to be more modern and reliable replacements for the old 5.4 workhorse) My wife's 2017 Expedition has the EcoBoost and it's very impressive and has been trouble free for the first 48k.
