This sucks
Well I got home and cleaned the wheels up and they are all marked up to some degree. I will post some pics but they may be hard to see and they were dirty again when I took the pics as it is still snowing here.

Jesus, another thread full of ppl with no mechanical or programming knowledge spouting off incorrect info.
The ford IDS can program a tire size close in diameter since that size is not a ford offered size.
Hypertech does make the speedo calibrator for the 11 5.0 and Eco. Just look at their website
Buy almost any tuner on the market today and change your size
For you people above, if you don't know the facts for sure , please don't post fiction

Similar products are made by Pro Comp Accu Pro and SuperLift TruSpeed, but they won't work on 2011-up F-150 engines either.
Ford changed the software for speedo calibration around 2006 or so, and most hackers haven't yet figured out how to calibrate the speedo for other than stock-size tires.
So before you buy a speedo calibrator, be certain it's guaranteed to work with your current engine. If you find one, then please come back to this thread and inform us all.
Ford engineers don't like shade-tree mechanics changing to non-standard tire sizes, so they make it difficult to calibrate things when you do.
Here are the stock-size tires for 2012 models, listed from the shortest to the tallest. Most of these sizes are are applicable to earlier F-150s back to about 2009.
Tire size....... tire revs/mile
P255/65R17 = 691
P265/60R18 = 685
P235/75R17 = 674
LT245/75R17 = 658 (heavy duty payload pkg)
P265/70R17 = 654
P275/45R22 = 654 (Harley Davidson)
P275/55R20 = 652 (Platinum)
P275/65R18 = 648
Additional sizes used for the 2009 models include:
LT245/70R17 = 693
P235/70R17 = 681
The smaller the revs/mile, the taller the tire. The speedo/odo/tripmeter software uses the revs/mile parameter instead of tire diameter or radius because revs/mile is more accurate. So if you want the Ford dealer to be able to calibrate your speedo for new tires, be sure thay aren't taller than 648 revs/mile, nor shorter than 691 revs/mile.
The tire revs/mile is included in the specs for most major brands of tires.
Note that the popular 35" diameter has about 600 revs/mile. So if that's your tire choice, then the Ford dealer probably can't get closer than 648 revs/mile, which is still about 7% speedo error.

OP, what size did they enter, and how accurate are you now for your speedo. You went with the 275/60/20 correct. This will come in handy when I buy my tires and they tell me they cannot do it.

Also, I've read that you can have them program gear ratio to help calibrate as well. I was going to inquire about this in my case. I have 3.73's and stock tires were 275 55 20. I went to a 285 60 20 which if you do the math, would equate to a 3.55 with the stock size tire. I may go this route with the dealer since it should be dead-on.

I may be wrong, but I don't think it was you, to whom he was speaking....

When I bought my truck, the sticker showed 17" stock size tires/rims, but mine came with fx4 18" wheels and 255/85/18's. I doubt the dealer recallabrated the speedo then. I am going with a 2.5" AS level kit and 285/75/18's and my FORD DEALER says with certainty they can recal the speedo. All they need to do is know the diameter and then get it as close as possible. If you don't recal, I think your speed will be off approx. 5-7 mph ?? I have also read on this forum, that your shift points are effected, some say yes, some say no. I will have FORD recal my speedo, just for the peace of mind. I also considered a 5 star tuner, which is very compatible with Ford vehicles, so if you decide to change vehicles, it will work as well, but... I have heard of people using tuners and having an adverse effect with TC and other componets. I love the new trucks, but too much computerization can be a detriment, when you want to change something. I figure by having FORD do it, my warranty and driveability won't be compromised. If anyone has hard facts about these issues, please chime in. Thanks. Happy New Year
