You cannot easily remove the tailgate plastic piece. Check old threads on this topic and you will see it's basically not possible except painting over it or by buying a different tailgate to change it out with (which then you have an issue with backup camera and keyhole). It is however easy to add the Amp Powersteps after the fact.

But then again, I can't justify spending around 45k after rebates & such on a truck used for transportation to work only! Which is why I bought my Xlt, and modded it the way I like for less! Although I do like all trims from STX & up!!!

If I was dead set on a Platinum, I just order a lariat tailgate same color! That would fix the problem.... Its only $$$, cant take it with you!

Let me explain: When I ride in a Platinum, I feel like I'm in a escalade, id be scared as hell to ruin that interior working on my cattle ranch. When I'm in my King Ranch, I feel as I have a nice interior, but still tough enough to get the job done.

But if you plan on towing or hauling the raptor isn't the best choice. Low payload and tow ratings.

My dealer won't even stock the KR because the leather is too fragile, they have replaced a ton of them. They would much rather sell the Lariat or Platinum. I've had a Lariat and now a Platinum, the seats are much tougher. I much prefer my current Platinum. Especially the power running boards, they suck up high enough that they won't get ripped off or bent. They are also rated to support about 3 times the weight of the standard tubes.
