Couple of questions for you guys!

1) How much bigger is the Kicker sub box than the factory sub? Most importantly, how many inches into the underside of the large bench seat does the sub protrude? I can see that it encroaches on that space.

2) Those of you who upgraded the amp of the Kicker to a different Kicker amp with a sub volume ****... If you had that to do over again, would you just have gotten a custom sub box and amp? Seems like a potential waste of money to buy a sub that already comes with an amp and then replace that amp. It also seems like maybe you could do better with a custom box. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Good points on the amp upgrade. You can definitely get a amp, custom box, and sub cheaper than the Soundgate with the upgraded amp. I'm also sure a 100% custom setup will sound somewhat better. However, For me it was about having the factory look and feel. I like that the box bolts to the factory holes and fits like a glove. Again that's just for me. I've had nice custom systems before that sounded killer, but I didn't want that in my new $45k truck. I also got my sub as part of the full Kicker Soundgate kit with the 4.1 DSP amp.

Make no mistake the that Kicker Sub will slam when you throw the power to it and the additional crossover settings on the upgraded amp really allows you to tighten and clean the bass up.

Does this have low level inputs for RCA and amp turn on wire? I assume not but.....

Long story short, I have a crutchfield SO 8BT power sub behind my seat. It's nice for tight bass but I've been wanting lower bass. Well I have a bad tooth abscess and am on OXY until I can get it fixed. In my drug induced haze I apparently ordered an 8" powered bazooka tube which will pound and be awesome but I know and knew that it won't fit under seat!

It will be here today but I'll return it and still on a quest to find better bass.

No. Takes signal input from the rear doors. Power directly from the battery. No other inputs. Simple, and lacking refinement, but hits pretty low.

Figured as much, thanks for the reply.

I may try to make the bazooka tube work, It just got here and looks like it may fit.

If you are referring to the Sony factory sub. I believe that sub is 8 inches where the Kicker is 10 inches. I also upgraded the amp on my kicker set-up just like dan02gt did. I too like the fact that everything is plug-n-play for the wire set-up beside having to run a power wire and new ground for the upgrade amp. Also with the new amp, I have a bass control ****, so I can adjust the bass on the fly. I paid $549 for my complete Kicker set-up which included the 4 door speaker with dsp/amp for them. And I paid $190 for new amp, fuse holder and rca adpator wires. I already had the new 8 guage power and ground wire. So to me, it wasn't a bad deal over all. I also installed all it myself too

What amp did you go with? Does it replace the amp that comes with the sub and does it mount in the same space on the sub box? I wouldn't mind being able to fine tune the sub amp differently than the door speakers.

A seller on eBay has the complete system for $450.00 right now. He has listings for both the crew and super cabs.
