Doesn't sound like much would be gained changing out the door speakers on the sony system. Main issue is that stock sub.
Change out the door speakers!!!! The sub is a major improvement, but you will also be happy with the better clarity of the door speakers. I did unplug the A-pillar tweeters as the Kickers have tweeters in all 4 speakers and the Sony speakers didn't have in the front.

It is, I put Infinity Reference X 5x7s in before I installed my KickerrSubstage. The Infinitis made a big difference, in sound quiality.

I received my power stage kit yesterday. Thanks Beau!

I have the Sony with No nav and plan to start with the sub then possibly the door speaks based on the sound. Only question I have is, did anyone ever find a good way to add bass/volume control to the sub separate of the door speakers or have we found that adjusting the head unit settings is getting most of you where you want to be? I definitely do not want to lose any mids as there is nothing better than a solid guitar jam coming through your mids.

Thanks for any info.

I was worried about the same thing. Adjusting the head unit has worked out fine. I like to listen to a fair amount of talk radio. It has not been an issue at all. I love my new system.

Post up if you can and don't mind your results after you start installing the parts, would love to hear your opinion on the job and performance. I do remember I wasn't crazy about the sony stereo but my truck has sat the last 3 months since I haven't needed it and I have been driving the vette every chance I get before summer is gone. I need to get in it and see if it is bad enough I want to upgrade the stereo before this sweet deal is gone.

That's why I started the thread, specifically just on this .... I put this kicker sub in place of the Sony. I already had Polk speakers...
So I would recommend the full kit if you still have the Sony speakers in your doors
You just won't use the extra DSP amp that comes in the kit. Which You could always re sell that too!

Phew, did a lot of reading on here for this upgrade and drove my truck this morning; sony stereo not so Ford tough. I see some guys with issue they can't tone down the the kicker sub and it doesn't blend with the rest of the speakers? They have their bass adjusted to -2, my setting on the screen is just a left to right bars.

You guys are helping me out a ton with feedback, appreciate it, after 30+ years of screwing around with building cars I just cringe when I buy stuff these days and it does't work out. I am sitting on the fence buying this set up, wish I could hear one local to end doubts. I definitely don't want boom bass in my ears when the radio isn't even up loud and other side of coin driving down the road and can't hear other speakers lol when volume up because bass is slamming.

Its all about how you adjust your bass level. There is a perfect balance for everyone. You just have to play with it some. Once these kits are sold out, they are just gone. I will have no more. So don't wait to long.

I really can't fathom that problem. It's so adustable just through the head unit. I just don't get it.
