Default Kicker Soundgate system

Is it worth the $1100 price tag? Or am I better off going aftermarket and buying speakers, amp, and sub myself? Either way, I will not be doing install by myself, so I will also have to pay for installation costs. I have the 2013 base system with the 4.2" screen. I am not looking to go with an aftermarket HU this time around. I'd like my system to look stock

Aftermarket is the way to go.

JL Cleansweep
5 channel amp
Good set of component speakers up front, coaxials in back.
8" good quality Subwoofer
Done!

I currently have:
JL CleanSweep - $250
Rockford Fosgate T3652-S Components up front - $350
JL Audio C2-570x Coaxials in back - $120
Rockford Fosgate P1000X5 amp to power all speakers and subwoofer - $425
Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-8 Subwoofer - $100
Small sub box build by my Brother in law - $50
All Wiring - $125

Total Cost was around $1420

You can go with cheaper speakers up front and back then what I bought along with a cheaper 5 channel amp and pay right around what you would pay for the price of the sound gate and get 20x the system. search on sonicelectronix.com

My set up sounds AMAZING. I get nothing but compliments and people telling me how they wished their car sounded half as good.

My boss has a Mercedes S class with the upgraded stereo, and even he says mine sounds better.

The kicker set up is still utilizing the stock speakers, and a small powered amp for them and the sub.

Hope this helps with your decision.

Thanks for the info! Going aftermarket is tempting and I know I can get a very good system for a similar price as the Kicker system, but the fact that Ford is offering it pulls me in. I like the fact that everything will be covered under my trucks warranty. On the ford accessories website, it states that it comes with amp, sub, and replacement speakers. However, a video I watched on YouTube mentioned it only comes with what u said. I know a YouTube video isn't the best reference for sound but it did sound pretty good from what I heard. Does JL clean sweep works on this new 2013 model? Is this basically the same thing as the PAC adapters that were used on 2009-2012 base stereos? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Idk much about stereo and electrical systems

I have a 2013 XLT. The cleansweep basically hooks up like an LOC. Just tap into the front and rear speakers. Real easy and it works very well.

the cheap one(500) bucks is that. The more expensive one(1100) includes all that, a 4 channel amp with dsp to address the headunit roll off presumably, and four coaxials.

Correction, it does not come with any replacement door speakers! It comes with a amp/dsp for factory speakers(mounts near steering column), and a 10" sub w/a 200w amp... Kicker recommends using the stock speakers with this setup as it was deigned for!

That mounts using the unused Sony sub mounting holes already inplace! If you look under your passenger side rear, you can see where the holes are with duct tape covering them!

The so called Cheap one, includes just the sub only!

This guy sell boxes with amps prewired if you want. Then you just haber to have the wires ran. With a Kicker amp, I think this box and subs combo is like $600.

Downside, he's out of stock til the end of the month.

It's typically considered rude to not do your research when someone points out your error, and you 'correct' them.
