After about 2-3 min the pulsating noise rises to a high sound level and then suddenly the sound system, and I'm thinking the kicker subwoofer pops and then all is quiet.
I have it in at the Ford Dealer now for the third time and they have not been able to fix the problem. Its driving me crazy.....a little. Any one have a idea of what is poping and how to fix it. Would really like to get this problem solved. Thanks.
sounds like loose and/or damaged wiring at some point in the run. Have you checked all the wiring?

Hi All,

I know this is an old thread, but I'm thinking about adding the kicker KX400.1 amp to my kicker sub. For those of you who have this amp, is it still working well for you? Any issues in the long term?

Also, I see that the OP has both RCA's and speaker level inputs used on his amp. I assume that he is using the speaker level inputs as the remote3 turn on for the amp, and the RCA's for the signal, but I just want to make sure I'm clear on the wiring. For those who have this, how did you handle the remote turn-on?

That's not speaker level inputs in the picture, that's the speaker output wires going to the sub. He used some speaker wire to RCA converters and is using the signal from the RCA's to trigger the amp.

I promise I'm not as dumb as that question made me sound! Thanks for the reply and for clearing that up. Do you still like this setup? Also, did you run 4 or 8 gauge power and ground wires?

No problem. I ran 8 gauge an couldn't be happier with the improvement. Now I have total control of the amount of bass and the sound quality is much better too.

I too have this setup and still going strong. I used 8 gauge solid copper power and ground wire for mine as well. I been thinking of adding another 10 in with a new box as well.

I've been think the same thing. I think my wife would kill me though because my truck isn't my daily driver. Plus I use the floor space on the driver side a good bit.

Like the other guys said, I used speaker wire to RCA adapters to feed the signal into the amp and used the signal sense to turn it on.

About 6 months ago I decided I wanted more power to my mids and the ability to tune the system better so I installed a 5 Channel Alpine PDX-9V and Audison Bit Ten DSP in the truck. I'm still running the Kicker sub though.

The KX400.1 is now running a NVX 10" in my Fox Body.

I'm going to be installing a used substage setup and was curious what gauge of wire is the white/purple and white/orange? I need to get some wire taps but not sure of the size. Thank you!

Also, what would be the easiest route to take to install a sub kill switch on the substage system? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to wiring.
