On my 2500 ,I mounted it right above the hitch receiver . Theres a steel nook that the camera fits in perfect. Its well protected , and its functional when the tailgate is down.
To mount the bracket I just used an adhesive exterior grade caulk(OSI).
I also added a switch under the steering wheel so I could turn it on anytime

Emblem complete was slightly below $50. The camera fits almost perfectly, but the camera opening is circular thereby forcing you to mount the squarish camera further inside the emblem. I'll try and snap some pictures soon so you can get a better perspective.

Here are some photos I promised you. I did this last summer, but I have yet to actually install it on my truck. What can I say, I'm slow.

Part numbers from Tasca:
CL3Z*9942528*AA
AL3Z*19H511*A
*N805949*S439
*W714711*S439
verify with VIN of course, bezel,emblem,screwsx2,insertsx2.

Camera is mounted in unmodified emblem. Notice how it sits far back due to the camera housing. This will cause the camera to pick up the edge of the emblem blocking the upper edges.

Back of the camera. Plastic hold down tab will need to be slightly modified to use this way. Picture shows it is not fully seated in place. You could do it this way, but may get annoyed down the road.

This is a modified housing allowing the camera to protrude out further. Notice how the bottom circular edges have been sanded flat. Viewing image is pretty much perfect now.

Thanks for the pics. That looks pretty simple to do. Have you figured out a connector to allow for gate removal ?

That is up to you on using a weather resistant style plug, or just using shrink wrap on the Kenwood cable. How often do you expect to remove the tailgate?

Did some checking. You could use a Packard or Deutsch brand connector. You would need both the male and female ends.
