I think what he means is that it sets it apart from all of the FX4's w/o the appearance package. But thank you for the input! I agree on the color though, I have seen the vinyl on white and light sliver ones and would say that it does looks bad on those light colors.

The badge is actually the Ecoboost one. On the appearance package, Ford removed the Ecoboost badges from the doors and added it to the right corner of the tailgate. I might leave it there for now.

x2 - that would be a great combo on your truck. But given the cost involved, I say you just leave the strip on it. It looks good.

I am surprised to hear how many people would like to see the gray wheels vs. the black ones. All F150 owners in the Pittsburgh area love the black wheels.

I removed mine on my silver, but the holes in the stripe are more apparent in the ingot silver then the dark grey.

The non-ap 20's are several shades lighter than his paint color.

Keep it--stripe looks great esp on grey or tuxedo. I'd consider removing the FX4 decals though--I did and like the cleaner look. I looked all over for a grey or black '12 with appearance package and feel fortunate to have found one. I'm also looking for a black badge to replace the current ecoboost one on the tailgate...

Maybe that is what I should do. My problem is that the truck looks too "busy" with the badge on the front fender, stripe down the side, and then the FX4 sticker on the back. I can always remove the stripe down the road if the mood strikes. It is alot harder to put one back on if I decide that I wanted to add it again. Plus, I always keep it in my garage so I dont need to worry about the paint looking faded (not where the stripe was) if the stripe was removed.

The dealer where I found mine said you would not find a truck identical to mine (Sterling Gray, appearance package, luxury package, nav, leather with red piping, seats, sunroof, power mirrors, 5.5 box, tow package) anywhere nearby. They said they had dealers in Utah calling wanting to dealer trader for my specific truck. Not sure how much truth there is to that, but I like the thought that it is somewhat unique compared to the other FX4's you can pick up.

I had this same mental debate for 8 months prior to purchasing mine. I loved the badging, the wheels, and the interior of the app. pkg but didn't know if I wanted the stripe to stay or not. I bought mine and within 2 hours I had the stripe off. It came off extremely easily. Took about 30 minutes to remove the vinyl from the entire truck with a heat gun. After that, there were 3-4 spots about 3" in diameter where the adhesive needed to be removed with Goof Off. I am very glad I did it.
