K&N cold air intake extreme cold!
Hi all,
I would like to install a K&N cold air intake on my 2011 f150 lariot limited 6.2L however where I live the temperatures will often reach minus 40f in the winter! I have been advised from one company that due to the extreme cold and massive amount of cold air entering the engine during winter that it might damage and warp the heads! Has any body else herd of this, or does any body living in the extreme cold winters have a K&N cold air intake installed?

I have had my f150 in two extreme cold winters both with Roush CAI with -35 this past month in JAN started right up and let it run for 15mins and drove to work and everything seems to be fine no problem still runs like a champ. But im no expert.

Warp the heads, that's funny. Do it, won't hurt a thing. Think about this. What does NO2 do? Makes the intake air charge super cold. Just be prepared for a bunch of intake noise when you get on the throttle. Look for the Airaid Jr kit if you don't want the noise. I put one on my 5.0 with the oiled filter and saw a slight increase in mileage, and just a hint of the "boo-wa" factor.

noob :)
I know my open CAI on a 95 GMC gets covered with an inch of white frost when it sits outside, but I don't drive it in the winter. I wonder what happens to the filter material as it melts and gets damp.

I ran k&n intakes on all of my trucks when I was stationed in Fairbanks, you should be fine...keep in mind if you do a lot of water fording, the intake has a higher likelihood of hydro locking your power plant.
