K&N CAI Report
Just reporting back on my new K&N CAI I put on th truck yesterday. It does seem to feel a little stronger. The biggest difference I felt was the throttle response, which I expected. Really love the deep, throaty sound of the motor with this CAI installed.
And the engine bay is much cleaner-looking now ... no more of all that crap hanging off the intake tube of the stock intake. All-in-all, to me, it was well worth the $248.00 I paid for it off Ebay ... no tax and free shipping.
I'll post up some pics as soon as I can take some today and download them.

FX4ord - Is the power gain real, or does it just sound like it's doing something?
For $250 I'd want some good boost.

0-60 recorded times average a little over 2/10th's of a second with the ambient air temps, humidity and weather conditions being nearly identical ... even a little less favorable than when I recorded my times before the CAI was installed. My programmer is all I have to go by right now, but, it does show a real gain simply because the truck is faster.
All the CAI naysayers can say what they like, but, the truck is faster, so, no matter how the issue is presented, it's still faster.

Which K&N CAI model is yours?

Yes I am. It's the plastisized chrome model 77-2581KP. Here's the comparison. Just look at how the air gets trapped and routed. Smoother airflow always has been known to be better.

Good mod!
Is there anything in the install that would make it non-reversible (cutting of a hose, etc.)?
Unfortunately, I have a non-mod friendly dealer and would need to put the stock intake back on for warranty work.
Can you report MPG gains/loss when you run a tank or two through it?

I'd be glad to report back MPG. In about 10 minutes, you could reomve the K&N CAI and swap the stocker back in. Very straight-forward install ... no cutting, hacking, or modifications ... just a clean insTALL.
